Team and invites
Adding people to a workspace, what each role can do, and how leaving works.
In short
Invite people by email, give them a role, and they join your workspace. Roles decide who can change team settings, not who can see the work.
A workspace is the container for your jobs, vendors and settings. Everyone you invite works inside the same one, seeing the same jobs.
Inviting someone
Invite by email address and pick a role. They get a link, and following it joins them to your workspace once they sign in.
The invited address has to match the one they sign in with. That is deliberate: it stops a forwarded invite from quietly attaching the wrong account to your books.
Invites expire, and you can revoke one before it is accepted or send it again if it went astray. A new invite for the same address replaces any earlier one still outstanding.
Roles

The distinction is narrower than it looks. Roles govern team administration, not what you can see. A member has the same access to jobs and money as an owner does, so invite people you would hand a bank statement to.
Important
There is no read-only role today. If you need to give someone a look at a single job without workspace access, send them a project statement instead. See client reports.
The last owner
A workspace always keeps at least one owner. Changing the last owner's role, removing them, or having them leave is refused, with a message telling you to promote someone else first. This is what stops a workspace becoming unadministrable.
Leaving and personal workspaces
Anyone can leave a shared workspace. Your own personal workspace is different: it is created with your account and cannot be left, so you always have somewhere to land.
If you belong to more than one workspace, switch between them from the user menu.
The free plan
Free covers 1 person, so inviting anyone needs Premium. The invite form tells you plainly rather than failing after you have typed an address. See billing and plans.
